ReuvenBarOn.org - Providing Information and Fostering Discussion on Emotional Intelligence

Welcome to my website which I created in order to provide a clear, concise and accurate description of who I am, what my model of emotional-social intelligence is, how best to measure it and apply it at home, school, work and in healthcare. One of the primary reasons for doing this is that I have come across, from time to time, inaccurate descriptions of me, my model and what it describes. Furthermore, I have received numerous requests for information about my model over the years; and placing the responses to frequently asked questions on a website is more efficient than responding to individual requests. An additional aim is to provide a platform for discussing aspects of emotional-social intelligence the site visitor wishes to discuss, including the Bar-On model versus other approaches to describing, studying and applying this construct.

This website is intended for laypeople, students, academics, researchers and practitioners in a wide variety of fields who are interested in various aspects of emotional intelligence.

Would you like to learn more about STAR PERFORMER PROFILING℠ consultation (SPP℠) and how it can be applied in your organization to improve performance and productivity? STAR PERFORMER PROFILING℠ consultation is the tool of choice for employee performance evaluation designed to directly enhance an organization’s ability to hire, promote and train high performers thus increasing overall organizational effectiveness and productivity. It is the most sophisticated, scientific and cost-effective method of applying emotional intelligence and other vitally important concepts that significantly impact performance. STAR PERFORMER PROFILING℠ consultation is based on statistically examining the ability of emotional intelligence, together with other important concepts, to predict high performance in organizations. Employees first complete a test of emotional intelligence such as the Bar-On EQ-i, for example, together with other measures of additional important concepts that impact human performance. The employees’ daily occupational performance is then rated by co-workers. The 15 EQ-i scale scores, together with scale scores on the other instruments that are applied, represent the potential predictors of high performance while the employees’ rated performance is what they attempt to predict. Sophisticated and powerful multivariate statistics are next applied to examine their individual and collective predictive ability. A “regression model” or profile of the organization’s high performers emerges from this process, which accurately pinpoints those specific factors that impact high performance the best. This profile is then used in hiring, promoting and training star performers who drive organizational productivity. Future candidates who seek employment or promotion whose Bar-On EQ-i results, for example, match this profile of high performance the closest are more seriously considered for the position. In training programs and leadership development moreover, the highest predictors in this profile are focused upon in order to enhance performance. This specific approach to consultation significantly increases the possibility of enhancing organizational effectiveness and productivity through hiring, promoting and training high performers. STAR PERFORMER PROFILING℠ consultation was pioneered and perfected by Reuven Bar-On, who applies it in organizations worldwide.
